AMP – Accelerated Mobile Pages
Google recently announced a project AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages). AMP is a framework that allows web pages to load faster on mobiles which is an open source initiative. AMP aims to reduce load times of web pages dramatically on smartphones. Websites are losing readers because of slow loading of webpages.
Google partnered with 30 large publishers of the world. First few companies to partner on technology with AMP Project are Twitter,Pinterest, WordPress.com, Chartbeat, Parse.ly, Adobe Analytics and LinkedIn.
How does AMP work?
AMP comes with 3 parts
- AMP HTML
- AMP JS
- Google AMP Cache
AMP HTML will have a subset of HTML and additional tags for serving rich content.
AMP JS will help in faster loading of resources of the webpage and AMP HTML tags.
Google AMP Cache is a content delivery network that will fetch all valid AMP pages and caches them and serve it to improve performance.
